ASUU condems 2019 budget on education

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, yesterday, said  the union is not pleased with the percentage allocated to the education sector in the  2019 budget.
This came as the union said it felt betrayed by the  Federal Government as regards the fulfilment of mutual agreements reached by both parties before its strike was suspended in February 2019.
ASUU said that the government is yet to pay the N25 billion it agreed to pay before the suspension of the strike in February.
In a statement by ASUU Chairman, UI, Professor Deji Omole said,
“We are not happy about 2019 budgetary allocation to the education. They presented this budget while we were on strike. We had assumed that a government that promised change would increase the budgetary allocation to education while the university staff are on strike.
